"Oh, I've lived on the streets my whole life," he said with the casualness of someone that had long since accepted their place in the world. "Not here, in this town. I grew up elsewhere. A long way away. I traveled for two years before I got here. They haven't gotten tired of me enough to kick me out."
Wan pulled out the food he had decided he wanted first and carefully tore it apart before eating it very slowly. Small bites that he chewed for a long time before swallowing. A habit that made food last longer and tricked his stomach into thinking he was full when he really wasn't.
"I was kicked out of the town I grew up in. Stole too much food."
